§ 8-203. Location of garbage containers.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to place or store any garbage can or container in or along any street, sidewalk or public place of the city so as to block or interfere with traffic or in any other way that would cause a public hazard or nuisance.

    (b)

    Garbage cans or containers shall be stored no closer than the front building line of the primary structure that faces a street, sidewalk or other public place when not placed at the curb side for scheduled pickup. Garbage cans or containers for corner lots that front two (2) streets shall be stored behind the front building line or adjacent to the side or rear of the primary structure.

    (c)

    Commercial and multi-family unit properties shall comply with the same requirements above except as may be otherwise provided pursuant to a site plan that has been submitted and approved as required by the Clarksville - Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission or the city department of buildings and codes.

    (d)

    Refuse collectors will ensure that no garbage or litter is allowed to escape from the collection vehicle, garbage cans or containers during the collection process. After collection, the refuse vendor will return empty cans or containers to a location that meets the requirements of subsection 8-203(a).
