§ 4-302. Electrical inspector.

  • (a)

    Duties generally. The electrical inspector of the city shall, under the supervision of the building official and the director of the building and codes department, have supervision of all electrical work done within the city and city utility districts. He shall inspect all work under construction, alteration, or repair within the aforesaid limits and shall require the same to be done in accordance with the rules and regulations herein established or authorized.

    (b)

    Inspections. During the progress of the work, the inspector shall inspect it as often as may be needed to determine whether it is being done in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, and upon breach of this chapter, the inspector shall require the work to be stopped until it has been corrected so as to conform with this chapter.

    (c)

    Tests. When the work is completed, the inspector shall make sure reasonable tests as may be needed to determine whether it conforms with the provisions of this chapter, and if it does not meet these requirements and if in the judgment of the inspector the work otherwise conforms to this chapter the inspector shall issue a certificate approving the work.

    (d)

    Report to city. If the work fails to meet the tests, or if the inspector has determined that it was not done in accordance with this chapter, it shall be the duty of the inspector his to file a written report with the city and give a copy thereof to the contractor stating wherein the work is at fault.

    (e)

    Records. The inspector shall keep a complete record of all inspections of approval issued by him.

    (f)

    Availability of records. Whenever the person for whom the work is being done so requests, the inspector shall show that person a record of the inspections and reports, and if requested shall give that person a copy of all certificates of approval or disapproval issued by the building and codes office relating to the work.
